Application forms for RecAssist 2020 are now available! Once we receive your application and support documents, a notification of your status will be sent to you in 5 business days.

RecAssist 2020 is valid from Jan. 1, 2020 through Dec. 31, 2020, or until the fund is depleted. It's important to remember that RecAssist funds are on a “first come, first served” basis. Throughout the year we offer hundreds of activities and memberships for you to choose from and encourage you to register early!

What is the RecAssist?

RecAssist is provided by Montgomery County Recreation to make financial assistance available to County residents who receive public assistance. The RecAssist Fund subsidizes Recreation activity and membership fees so that eligible residents can pay reduced fees for these Recreation services.

How does RecAssist work?

  • The RecAssist Fund is available for up to 12 months – Jan. 1, 2020 through Dec. 31, 2020, or until the fund is depleted.
  • RecAssist funds can only be applied to activities costing $25.00 or more.
  • A minimum 20% co-payment per activity or membership, per participant, is required at the time of registration.
  • Use of the RecAssist Fund is available on a “first come, first served” based. You may use the amount on your account only until the RecAssist Fund is used up.
  • Once the RecAssist Fund is used up, you must pay full price for all registrations, even if you have not used the entire RecAssist amount on your account.
  • The total amount that a family qualifies for will be placed on the family account and may only be used by eligible family members.
  • Applications will be processed and the amount of assistance for which you are eligible will be placed on your Recreation account within 5 business days of the date we receive your application. You may begin using RecAssist funds to register on Jan. 1, 2020.

How do I know if I'm eligible for RecAssist?

Montgomery County residents who are currently receive public assistance from any of the following programs will received $200.00 per eligible family member. No other programs or documentation will be accepted.

  • Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA)
  • Supplemental Security Income
  • Housing Assistance from a Shelter
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Maryland Medicaid
  • Care for Kids
  • Maryland Energy Assistance
  • Montgomery County HHS Rental Assistance Program
  • WIC

You may only use one type of assistance per applicant to qualify for RecAssist funds. RecAssist funds will be placed on qualifying individual's Recreation account for future use.

What can I use RecAssist for?

The RecAssist Fund may only be used for Montgomery County Recreation classes and programs like yoga, summer camps, swim lessons, sports, art, dance and much more. RecAssist funds can be used towards a purchase of a swim pass. Family Pool Pass access includes two eligible parents and/or guardians, and up to four single legal dependent children under 21 years of age residing at the same address.

If you are purchasing a Family All Pool or Summer Pool Pass:

  • Only those family members who receive RecAssist funds are eligible to be included on a Family All Pool or Summer Pool Pass.
  • In the case where only the children (under the age of 21) in a family receive RecAssist funds, one non-qualifying parent and/or guardian (residing at the same address) will be added to the Family All Pool or Summer Pool Pass.
  • Only one swim punch pass per eligible family member, per calendar year, may be purchased using RecAssist funds

RecAssit funds cannot be used to pay for:

  • Any activity fees that are less than $25.00
  • As an adjustment of previous registrations
  • A previous balance on your account
  • Sports team leagues fees
  • Facility rentals
  • Recreation Gift Cards
  • Daily pool admissions
  • Supplemental fees including, security deposits, withdrawal fees, materials fees, late pick-up fees or to purchase aquatic merchandise.

    RecAssist application forms can be completed and either mailed-in, faxed-in or walked-in to our Administration Office. Download and complete the RecAssist application form. Make copies of your required support documentation. Submit your completed application and copies of your documentation to Recreation.
