Qualifications
To be a volunteer you must:
- Be at least 14 years old;
- Be able to commit to the length of the program;
- Be willing to share your enthusiasm for recreational activities with others;
- Provide three references who you have known for at least one year;
- Meet the specific expectations as discussed during the interview.
Locations: Volunteers are needed throughout Montgomery County.

Montgomery County Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, offers a variety of options to assist individuals with disabilities. Find the volunteer opportunity that best suits your interests or schedule.
Volunteers assist individuals with disabilities participate in recreation classes and activities. Companions provide one-on-one support to individuals with a disability who wish to participate in general recreation programs with their non-disabled peers. The need for volunteers is year round
A number of special events such as theme dances, pool parties and picnics are offered throughout the year. Assisting with one of these events is a great opportunity to volunteer on a one time basis
To volunteer in a camp for children or teens with disabilities, or as a mainstream companion for a child in a summer camp, please request our summer volunteer packet. (There is a fee that cover training, t-shirts etc.)
